Census records are a useful source for information about genealogy and ancestry. Most
census records include at least the full name of every person living in the house at
the time the census was taken. Often, they include additional information such as birth
place, birth year, age, parents' names, and occupation. These genealogy records are
especially helpful in finding the names of unknown family members and in placing the
family in a specific time and place.
