Research Interest: Looking for information on Aitken family. They came from Dunrossness, Shetland Isle about 1882/83. Originally went to Newfoundland but ended up in Como, Colorado. Two brothers moved to Watsonville, Ca. about 1886. This was Andrew and Harry Aitken. Name was changed to Atkins between the time they left Shetland and arrived in Colorado. 1885 Census in Colorado shows the name as Atkins. Father was John Atkins. Had a brother named Arthur who also was in Como., Co in 1885 along with son, Robert Atkins. John died sometime after leaving Shetland unable to find any record of him after that.
